Making Healthier BBQ Sandwiches

Thursday, May 24th, 2012

Are you looking for ways to make your barbecued beef or chicken less greasy, while making it healthier? If yes, Kloby’s Smokehouse is here to give you tips on how to keep your beef or chicken delicious while keeping it as healthy as possible.

For starters. You can make your BBQ beef or chicken less greasy by thoroughly draining your ground beef or chicken in a colander. Once you are done draining, blot the meat with paper towels or rinse the meat with hot water to eliminate additional fat. If you are using shredded meat for your BBQ beef, make sure you discard any visible fat prior to shredding.

Here is a healthy but tasty recipe for Chicken BBQ Sandwiches:

To make delicious and healthy chicken BBQ sandwiches you will need 4-5 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, 1 medium yellow onion, chopped, Kaiser buns, finely shredded green cabbage, 3 cups of homemade BBQ sauce.

Place your chicken breasts into a pressure cooker for moist chicken.

Next, sauté chopped onion in pan until it is translucent. It usually takes about four minutes. Shred your cabbage in a food processor. Toast your buns with your broiler pan face up for 1-2 minutes. You want to toast your bread well to prevent your BBQ from getting soggy.

How To Plan A Great Menu For Your Graduation BBQ Party

Wednesday, May 16th, 2012

Are you throwing a graduation party for your new graduate? If yes, there is no better party to throw than a BBQ grad party. Read now to learn a few tips on preparing for a fun and memorable party.

For starters you need to find out about your grad’s favorite foods. Once you know these food groups, you should plan out five to seven different menu items. The most common mistake made at grad parties is serving too much food.

To keep food quantity at a reasonable level, be imaginative rather than sticking to the same food.  For example, if your graduate loves pizza, serve pizza. Pizza gives you the chance to mix it up by serving unique gourmet pizza as well as standard favorites, cheese and pepperoni.

Serve common BBQ favorites of smoked pulled pork, beef brisket, ribs and chicken. Serve BBQ sandwiches, coleslaw and baked beans. There is nothing more delicious than BBQ from a professional BBQ caterer.

Best of all you can hire a caterer to make these meals for you. Once you have a theme the caterer will help you maximize the opportunity to find foods that fit that theme.

Kloby’s Smokehouse has a great selection of BBQ food.

If you want to get the most out of your grad party, let Kloby’s Smokehouse do the grilling and cooking for you.

How To Have a Successful Pig Roast

Thursday, April 19th, 2012

There is no better way to have fun outdoors during the spring and summer months than having your own pig roast. It is a wondrous event but roasting a whole pig can be a very challenging task. Kloby’s Smokehouse is here to help you pull it off successfully by providing you a few tips on how to cook a full size pig. Read to start preparing for your pig roast.

When roasting a pig, you will need special equipment and skills to cook it the right way. The pig has a great deal of meat on it. It will need to be cooked well to be safe for eaters.

On average, suckling pig is less than 25 pounds. A whole hog weighs about 30 to 60 pounds. A large hog will weigh about 100 to 200 pounds. To roast any of these pigs you will need a heavy duty and sturdy rotisserie. The rotisserie will slowly and safely turn your pig roast over your fire.

How To Buy Your Pig For Roasting

When buying a pig to roast, you want it to be as fresh as possible. You can special order a whole pig in advance. If it is frozen when bought, you must defrost it 48 hours before roasting. You want all the time you will need and a little extra. Also remember if your pig is not prepped for cooking (hair and internal organs removed), you will need to clean and prep the hog prior to cooking.

Once you have your pig, it is time to have some fun. You will need to flavor your whole pig by marinating and brining it.

Brining is when you use salt water solution to tenderize meat and keep moisture in muscle fibers. With marinating and brining you will infuse flavor and keep your pig roast succulent and moist.

If you don’t have the time or patience to roast your pig, let Kloby’s Smokehouse get the job done well. We offer whole smoked pig, Carolina style pulled pork, pork BBQ ribs and more.

3 BBQ Catering Tips To Make Your Party A Success

Friday, March 2nd, 2012

Do you want to host your own BBQ party? If yes, this article will provide you information on successfully catering a BBQ. You need to be well-prepared and we are here to help! Follow our tips to give your guests a finger licking BBQ meal.

Have the Right Equipment

For a superb BBQ, you need to use high-quality grills and smokers.  The best grill for a BBQ is one made for smoking.  Professional caterers use this type of grill to give meat a smoky flavor.  You will need turner tongs and a chef’s fork to turn and serve your meat. Use a grill scraper or brush to clean the grill.

Season the Grill

Before placing your meal on the grill, always properly season it. To season the grill pour cooking oil on a paper towel and rub it on the cast grill.  Season the grill. This task keeps your cast-iron in mint condition and keeps your meat from sticking to the grid.

Choose the Best Meat

Make sure you always use the best meat possible for the best BBQ results. For pork, use lean meat with pink, firm flesh. Ribs and shoulder cuts are the most used pig parts for a BBQ. For grilled steak, use rib-eye because it has the most marble. Marble drips will feed the flames of your grill and prevent your meat from losing tenderness and flavor.

Overcooking or undercooking your meat is the last thing you want to do for such a big, festive event. Guarantee that your BBQ party  is a success by hiring Kloby’s Smokehouse as your professional BBQ caterer.
